Feeling MIGHTY Proud

April 30, 2018

It's been three weeks since I last posted and I have LOTS that I want to write about, but I haven't really been in the right zone, and I need to structure my thoughts and figure out what I want to say, but two things of note have happened that I really need to write about today!

Pause for drumroll......

I have had TWO of my stories published on The Mighty! You may have read in a previous post that I had an article accepted and I was most excited about that. Well, I submitted and had another one accepted, and BOTH have now been published!!

Now, I'm not expecting that this 100% rate will continue going forward, but I have to say that it has made me extremely proud to have a site such as The Mighty believe that my musings may be interesting or insightful for others to read.

I started writing to help me understand what goes on with me, to enable me to have more control of my life, to help me explain my situation to those in my life, without me having to do it time and time again (especially when talking is the last thing I fancy doing), and also to give those who are interested an insight on what it is like in my life, and ultimately, to educate and break the stigma associated with mental illness.

At no point do I pretend to be an expert in Bipolar II, but I am an expert in MY life with Bipolar II. Every single person experiences things differently, and illness is no different.

Since my articles have been on The Mighty's site, there have been more than 200 'likes' of them. That is 200+ people who have read what I have written and found enough value in it to click a button. There may well have been that many (or even more) who read and didn't find any value. And that is okay, and doesn't dampen my spirits.

Self esteem and self worth are two things I really struggle with. I can honestly say that there are not many times I have truly been proud of myself, but today, I really am.

I have written this post so I can look back at it in the future, especially on a bad day, and I can remind myself that my life is worth it and I have something to offer to the world.
